Wadi (Bioswales/Infiltratingfilter swales)

A wadi is a naturally designed buffer and infiltration filter. A wadi can be a shallow ditch or depression in the field. The wadi detaches rainwater runoff from streets and rooftops from the traditional sewer system. For the larger part of the year, the wadi remains dry. Only during heavier rain events will the wadi be filled with water. This way clean water is infiltrated into the soil it can be used during drier periods.
